Rescue Tails
Want to know where all my money goes?
Some people have savings accounts… I have kids and dogs. Same thing, just louder and more expensive.
Between feeding humans, feeding animals, and pretending I’m financially responsible, saving money is basically a fantasy at this point.
I’ve been thinking about sharing some of the dog rescues I’ve been part of over the years—because honestly, this has been a lifelong situation, not a phase.
I was a “rescuer” from the time I was a kid.
Any dog wandering outside of a yard? Clearly abandoned. Obviously mine now. No further questions.
I begged to keep every single one… and if I’m being honest, not much has changed 😅
Shiloh - Catahoula Leopard Dog
My sister called me from her job stating that there was a deaf puppy that they were going to put to sleep unless they could find a home for her. I had no idea that this girls would change my life. My first deaf dog and we learned so much together. She was the dog that catapulted me into deaf dogs and rescuing.

Dazee - Border Collie and Australian Shepherd
Dazee came home with my kids one day and I was resistant to keep her but she was perfect for our little. She was a protector and we always felt safe. She was a constant companion and traveled everywhere with us. She loved going "bye bye" and never left our sides.

Mozart - Australian Shepherd
This deaf boy came to me from a rescue that wanted me to train him. I set out to make him the best companion possible but what I didn't realize was that the moment he came home with me, he was never leaving.
We joined the Shasta Splash Dogs club and he became the first deaf dock jumping dog in the area.

Lucy and Izzy - Boxers
No, you're not experiencing double vision. This is Lucy and her baby, Izzy. They were in the Red Bluff Animal Shelter. Momma Lucy was very scared but desperately wanted to trust people. Both deaf, their lives on the streets were likely filled with scary times. Lucy was afraid of hoses, brooms, vacuums, anything that came near her. She also didn't let anyone get behind her. It was about a year before she made the gesture that showed me she finally trusted me. She walked toward me, turned around and sat at me feet, with her back to me. I cried like a baby.
Izzy went to live with another rescue family that gave her the best life possible.

Levi and Lexi - Boxer and American Bulldog
After we lost Momma Lucy, we wanted to find another male boxer. I found Levi in San Jose and his sister also needed a home so Lexi came with him.

Mickey and Kiera - Boxers
These two were more of an adoption than a rescue. Their human parents passed away within 18 months of each other and the family could not keep them.
